The cork surface gains grip from the sweat produced during yoga practice (cork contains suberin, a waxy, grippy substance that becomes effective when the mat is damp. For extra grip, you can also lightly dampen the mat with water before your session). Furthermore, the natural cork surface absorbs excess moisture. Therefore, you don't need to worry about slipping on your sweaty yoga mat and you no longer need an extra towel.
