These coconut wood spoons are made from the trunks of coconut palms. They are handcrafted and finished with organic coconut oil. Coconut wood is very sustainable and unique in its colors and patterns.
Coconut palm wood is a sustainable alternative to other types of wood because it is made exclusively from dead wood of palm trees that no longer produce coconuts. This creates space for new palm trees to grow, allowing fresh coconuts to develop again. Another advantage of coconut palm wood is its high strength – comparable to the hardness of mahogany.

Who is behind the product?
Balu Bowls is a Munich-based start-up that aims to combat the burning of coconut shells. The shells are imported directly from Bến Tre, Vietnam, the coconut heartland. There, the coconut shells are carefully sanded, cleaned, and rubbed with coconut oil.
