The coconut shells may have minor irregularities in pattern and color. They also sometimes have a small crack along the upper edge. However, the shells are still perfectly usable.
Who is behind the product?
Balu Bowls is a Munich-based start-up that aims to combat the burning of coconut shells. The shells are imported directly from Bến Tre, Vietnam, the coconut heartland. There, the coconut shells are carefully sanded, cleaned, and rubbed with coconut oil.
