Only 12 days until Christmas Eve

Grüner Hintergrund mit roten Blumen und weihnachtlichem Countdown: 12 Tage, 1 Stunde, 5 Minuten bis Weihnachten.

There are only twelve days until Christmas and you haven't finished getting fair and sustainable gifts for your loved ones? Then hurry!

If we were "Whos," there would be a flurry of activity: only twelve days until Christmas, so much to do. But we're not in Whoville, and there shouldn't be any more stress in December.
So deck the halls with boughs of holly, Fa la la la la, la la la la!

On your marks, get set, bake!

The gingerbread is already gone, all the dominoes have been eaten, and you don't feel like baking anything new? Well, we have some inspiration for you again. Our lovely Patricia tried out another cool project last week. For the perfect cozy Christmas atmosphere at home, and also as a gift, she made wonderful scented candles herself (from leftover wax).
All you really need are wicks, wax, and, if you like, fragrance oil. The quantities are easy to determine: want to make four candles? Then you'll need four wicks, of course. And suitable containers like jars or small flowerpots. If you already have leftover wax at home, since Advent is half over, you can use that. But if that's not enough, you can also buy wax. In this article, you'll find plenty of information on alternatives to beeswax and those without paraffin.
First, cut the wick to the appropriate length for your candle mold, then clamp it between two toothpicks or wooden skewers so that it hangs vertically in the mold. Next, melt the wax in a double boiler. Make sure that no water gets into the wax and that the container you use for melting the wax is heat-resistant. Once everything is liquid (and you've added your fragrance drops), wait another five minutes and then you can pour the wax into the molds – but be careful, the wax and container can be very hot!

Here are a few more tips from Patricia:

  • If you don't have an old pot or bowl at home that you'd like to use for melting the wax, you can simply melt the wax in a water bath in an empty tin can (or beverage can).
  • Get creative and find some cool containers that are heat-resistant! How about an old tea set, for example?
  • For a Christmas vibe, fir branches and cinnamon sticks also look nice in the candles, but keep in mind that wax is not transparent when cold and these natural materials may then burn (possibly even more intensely)!
Does this sound like a relaxing project for homemade gifts, or does the thought of DIY fill you with dread? We've got your back!

A few more thoughts on gifts

So you don't have to fight your way through crowded shopping streets, we've selected some new products from our Imperfect Shop to offer you some creative inspiration. From Pulse of Art, we have a fantastic poster in DIN A4 format for "Pinky Promise Buddies." There are those people who always carry a notebook with them for their thoughts, plans, and spontaneous ideas. Are you one of those people, or do you know someone like that? From Wonder of Today, we have brightly colored blank notebooks in DIN A5 and DIN A6 formats. The 48 pages are just waiting to be filled! As everyone knows, you can never have too many mugs, and we're especially fond of beautiful ones, so the delivery from Hannibelle arrived at just the right time. Show your love for bees and mountains with this beautiful enamel mug !

And remember: we only guarantee delivery in time for Christmas Eve for orders received by December 16, 2021 (assuming the post office doesn't cause any problems).

Once the fuss about the gifts is over…

...how about some hot chocolate and a board game with all your loved ones? I asked around among our family and compiled a list of the five most popular board games that are less likely to cause arguments than Monopoly:
  • Wizard (it's almost a classic, the card game for up to 5 people)
  • Qwixx - a varied dice game
  • For storytellers with a lot of imagination : “Dix it”
  • Exit games of any kind are great for teamwork!
  • Charades is a traditional game that comes without many rules.

What does Christmas mean to you?

How do you celebrate Christmas? With family, with loved ones, or not at all? Ultimately, it doesn't matter how or if you celebrate; we want to give you a gift, and we've already done so twice.
