Denim products made from old clothes and surplus material - Bridge&Tunnel

Who would have thought that an old pair of jeans could be transformed into a stylish clutch? That's exactly what the young Hamburg-based company Bridge&Tunnel does, while also creating social value.

Social Design

What makes Bridge&Tunnel special is the social commitment of its two founders, Conny and Lotte. Both women want to offer socially disadvantaged people and refugees a future through their project. As a result, Bridge&Tunnel now employs a diverse group of people, each with their own unique story. What unites them all, however, is their passion for sewing.

Sustainable resource management: Pre- and post-consumer waste

Anyone looking for uniform products at Bridge&Tunnel is in the wrong place! Because the startup uses either post-consumer waste (old clothes) or pre-consumer waste (surplus materials from production) for each product, every item is essentially unique. The social enterprise obtains its materials from clothing banks and through clothing donations. They only use jeans that are no longer suitable for other uses.

Transparent pricing

Another special feature of Bridge&Tunnel is their so-called " transparent pricing ." The company is completely open about how much money was spent on each item, thus determining the final price of the product. For example, the pricing for the CAN Clutch, which can occasionally be found here in the "With Corners and Edges" shop, looks like this.

If you've become curious and want to learn more about the social enterprise, then take a look at their website , Facebook page , or Instagram account .
