Over the next six months, we'd like to donate 2.5% of our VAT to charitable projects, associations, and organizations. So, with your orders, you're not only rescuing imperfect products, but also supporting other worthy causes in the areas of animal welfare, social engagement, and environmental protection. We'd like to explain the details of our donation campaign in this post.

From July 1st, VAT rates will be reduced until the end of the year.

VAT is actually a pass-through item that retailers pay directly to the tax office. Consumers only notice a VAT reduction if the prices of goods are also reduced. As you know, we are a small team , and manually adjusting the prices of several hundred products in the system would exceed our time constraints. Therefore, we believe it makes more sense to donate the total amount of the price differences at the end of the next few months.

Why do we donate 2.5%?

We've been asked several times why we donate 2.5% even though the VAT has been reduced by 3%. Here's the explanation : We donate 2.5% of the gross price of the sales price. To arrive at the new gross price (reduced by 3% VAT) from the gross price of a product, you can't simply deduct 3%, because VAT is calculated on net prices. What sounds complicated will become clearer with an example :

And what about the reduced VAT rate?

The same applies to the reduced tax rate of 7% (or the new 5%). Here, 1.87% of the gross price is deducted, not 2%. The two values are then weighted according to the actual proportions of the respective sales. Approximately 80% of our sales are taxed at the standard rate of 19%, and 20% at the reduced rate of 7%. This results in a weighted average of 2.39% of the gross value. We simply rounded this up to 2.5%.

This way you can help decide where the donation goes:

  • Follow us on Instagram if you aren't already :)
  • In the first week of the month, we will present two projects each in our stories .
  • You can then participate in the selection process via the survey function .

At this point, we want to emphasize that we are not calling for a competition between two organizations. All the projects we have selected are equally worthy of support . We simply want to give you the opportunity to have your say on Instagram.
