Yes, soon, soon, soon the wait will finally be over and Christmas will be just around the corner! Now to quickly get the last gifts, wrap them and maybe write a few Christmas cards.

When the time comes, it's usually all about the food during the holidays. With all the old family traditions, vegans often have a hard time – do you feel the same way? Of course, we're happy to help out and have a vegan recipe for you. Plus, this time we have some last-minute gift ideas, film recommendations for the holidays, and a giveaway again. The fourth candle is lit – let's go!

Better late than never!

Oh dear, the fourth candle is already lit and you still don't have any gifts? Don't worry, we've just received some new arrivals that might be exactly what you're looking for! The simple, sustainable jewelry from Jukserei is sure to be an eye-catcher under the Christmas tree and will make the recipient's eyes light up. A Soulbottle is always a good idea – the new designs arrived just last week. You can also find Kia-Charlotta nail polishes in fantastic new colors in the Unperfektshop. All vegan, microplastic-free, and made with 87% natural ingredients – we love them!

You can find even more gift ideas in our latest blog post. Our hardworking warehouse team is working tirelessly and will continue packing your orders until December 23rd. Even last-minute orders should arrive in time for the holidays. However, please factor in the heavy mail volume during the Christmas season and order by this evening (December 19th). For those who simply can't decide or would prefer to let the recipient choose between their imperfect favorites, our gift voucher in the new Christmas edition is just the thing! Simply select a design, pay, and print – you can even do this up to five minutes before opening presents.

Food coma incoming

So, are you all ready for the annual food coma from December 24th to January 1st? Food is always a bit of a tricky subject on traditional holidays. Many people celebrate with family, where it feels like the same old thing is always cooked – usually very meat-heavy. Some vegetarians and vegans make a small exception to their usual eating habits, but many prefer an alternative free of animal products. That can be festive too, of course! The lovely Patrick has shared his recipe for vegan Wellington with us. We're thrilled and, of course, we don't want to keep it from you! Maybe this year we can even convince one or two grandmas to try something new?

Vegan Wellington with gravy

Ingredients:

  • 2 red onions/shallots
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 celery stalk
  • 200g mushrooms
  • vegan minced meat (can also be replaced with more mushrooms)
  • vegan puff pastry
  • thyme
  • plant-based butter
  • Salt & pepper
  • optional: smoked paprika powder

Preparation:

  1. Take the puff pastry out of the refrigerator so that it becomes pliable.
  2. Finely chop the onions, sauté them in butter, and then add the diced carrot, celery, and mushrooms. Don't cook them for too long—the vegetables should still have a bit of bite. Set aside for now.
  3. Brown the vegan mince and season to taste. Then mix the mince and vegetables and season again. The filling is now ready.
  4. Preheat oven to 200 degrees using top/bottom heat.
  5. Spread the filling onto the puff pastry and roll it up like an apple strudel. Since the filling needs some air holes, you can now score patterns on top of the pastry. This makes the Wellington look even more festive.
  6. Now it goes into the oven for about 30 minutes, until it is golden brown.

We recommend serving it with mashed potatoes, dumplings, vegetables, and brown gravy. Enjoy cooking it and bon appétit!

Great cinema

Once everyone's stomach is full, the next stop is often the couch for a cozy evening of television. To make it easier for you to find the perfect program, we asked around among our team.
  • Patrick keeps it classic and watches all the Harry Potter movies with his girlfriend - it's simply magical every time.
  • Patricia's favorite film is Inside Out , but she's also looking forward to the new season of The Witcher.
  • Anna satisfies her love of musicals with The Greatest Showman.
  • Franzi is always captivated by the series Colin and Black & White.
  • Jhonatan's favorite Christmas movie is The Polar Express
  • Sarah is still undecided whether she would rather watch "Love Needs No Holiday" or the crime series "Èlite".

Last but not least, we're giving away another fantastic package this week! This time, the theme is "Coming Home for Christmas," and you have the chance to win a backpack from GOT BAG, the handy collapsible travel mug from up2u, and a delicious selection of imperfect snacks! Just head over to our Instagram profile and try your luck! Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, whether alone, with family, at home, or at work – we wish you a wonderful time and a happy new year!
